OVERVIEW :
Bodrum Castle, standing as the symbol of Bodrum, was built by the Knights of St. John (Knights of Rhodes) between 1406-1523. It sits on a rock surrounded by the sea on three sides, between two ports. The Bodrum Castle is a historical landmark that has witnessed many different wars and legendary heroes. This castle has kept standing for more than six centuries as a well-protected refuge, and served as one of the most important military posts in that period. The whole castle is nearly the size of a small village, with all its towers and various parts being turned into exhibition halls for Underground Archeology Museum.
In more than 14 exhibiton halls in the museum, many relics are on display, including the ones scrapped from the various shipwrecks in Turkey. The visitors can examine most of the relics in the museum, along with descriptive texts.
